Why ugly websites sell prettiest

http://4allonlinebusiness.blogspot.com/
What the heck is going on lately? Most websites where I am now , all I see are pretty graphics everywhere. I see moving images, I see crazy JAVA , things flying around.

Do not get me wrong , some of these graphics are truly amazing - I love to see them! But that's the problem! I do love to watch them when I 'm done watching them , I leave ! Lately, there has been a disturbing trend of each spend huge sums of money on web graphics . The problem ? There is no evidence that this really helps your sales!

... I put this page in 5 minutes ( after writing my copy ) . Believe it or not , but even such a service is expensive - this page converts about 2.5% - of course I am very targeted traffic ...

Look how ugly he is !

BUT , it has a content! It has a large copy it to my face, my voice, and a great service - the actual main ingredients to a site that sells ... Now the problem is that most people are very logical - you would think that a beautiful site should sell more - it makes sense right?

You expect that a beautiful site probably increases your credibility - I mean , come on, it shows your visitors that you really want , blah blah blah ... But , again , look at my website - I am selling a high priced consulting services to business owners - I 'm selling my expertise in the world of internet business. However, the site design (or lack there of ) seems to have no influence.

Just so you know, I tried a beautiful fancy design for this page. Want to know what happened to my conversion? It fell to 1.4% ! Now that I have your attention , let 's look at why it is that a pretty site probably sells less :

A . More graphics take longer to load.

Not everyone has fast internet again - in fact, most people do not . Nobody wants to wait for hours for a site to download !

2 . More graphics distract your visitors from your message.

Your graphics can actually work against you because your visitors spend more time focusing on them than they do focusing on your copy ! Remember, this is your copy that sells - if the visitor is not reading copy - he / she is not going to buy. Period .

3 . Some visitors may not like the colors , you could send the wrong message to different cultures.

Just because you like the colors in your graphics and you like the color scheme of your website does not mean that your visitors do too . That's it, those are the three main reasons to keep your site as neutral as possible .
So do not forget , NICE is not always equal to more sales!
Ugly websites sell and will continue to do so. What matters is what you sell , your own expertise , and writing your copy . Ultimately , the best way to know what works best for your visitors is to test , test and test some more!
